Last week, Montana-based firms said that they weren’t being considered for federal construction projects, specifically on Montana ports, funded by stimulus dollars. Friday, Sen. Jon Tester sent out the following e-mail:
Senator Jon Tester today announced that two federal agencies overseeing some contracts for upcoming federally funded construction projects in Montana will put an emphasis on hiring local subcontractors for the work.
The decision is a result of Tester’s efforts to involve as many Montana businesses as possible to work on projects funded by the recently passed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, also known as the Jobs Bill.
Tester will be in Great Falls Saturday hosting a workshop aimed at helping Montana businesses compete for stimulus dollars.
