Fill up a picnic basket, grab the kids and your friends and load up the car with the lawn chairs for an evening of light classical music under the spectacular Montana sky. The, Saturday, July 11 event is the annual outdoor “Symphony Pops at Rebecca Farm” concert presented by Glacier Symphony and Chorale. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and admission is $20 per car, so the more the merrier.

Maestro John Zoltek will cue the orchestra at 7:30 p.m. giving everyone lots of time to frolic on the rolling lawn of the equestrian center. Frisbees and lawn games are encouraged. The concert will be held rain or shine and two large tents will be set up offering shade or shelter. Picnic tables will be placed in and around the tents and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Beer and wine will be available to purchase and food vendors will offer a variety of fare ranging from tacos to ice cream.

“This concert is becoming a very popular summer event that brings families and friends together in a relaxed atmosphere to experience our skillful and entertaining musicians,” comments Alan Satterlee, GSC Executive Director.

Music Director, John Zoltek has chosen a concert repertoire that will appeal to a range of musical tastes. Selections from movie scores such as “Raiders of the Lost Arc” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “South Pacific Medley” “Schindler’s List,” and “James Bond” along with patriotic favorites such as “American Salute” and “Stars and Stripes Forever” and classical works such as the finale from Dvorak’s 9th Symphony “From the New World,” and Rossini’s “William Tell Overture” will keep toes tappin.’

“This summer’s pops concert will be lots of fun and full of musical surprises,” Zoltek said. “The program of movie music, classic favorites and patriotic pieces will provide an engaging and inspiring soundtrack to a beautiful Montana evening under the big sky at the wonderful Rebecca Farm. I look forward to sharing this wonderful and exciting music with an enthusiastic summertime picnic audience.”
