Obama Planning Trip to Bozeman

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – Bozeman City officials say President Barack Obama will be visiting the city late next week.

Montana has become important in the health care overhaul debate as U.S. Sen. Max Baucus leads the Senate’s bipartisan health care talks. Obama says he will eventually push forward even if bipartisan support doesn’t work out.

Obama is pushing his policy priorities at stops around the country, which included a stop in Indiana on Wednesday and plans for another town-hall style event next week in New Hampshire.

The president made a number of stops last year in Montana as a candidate, showering the state with unprecedented presidential campaign attention. He still lost the Republican-leaning state to Republican John McCain.
