Bats Sightings Close Some Great Falls Theaters

By Beacon Staff

GREAT FALLS – Bat sightings at a Great Falls cinema have prompted officials to shut down some of the theaters out of fear of health risks.

Carmike 10 Cinemas officials said Thursday four of the movie theaters will be shut down until at least Monday when the complex is inspected. The theaters were closed after the health department received reports of bats in some of the theaters and in a cinema hallway.

Movie showings will continue at the cinema’s six other theaters.

Meanwhile, health risk notices have been posted around the cinema warning people about the bats. The notices say rabies can be transmitted by being bitten by an infected bat or if the saliva of an infected bat comes in contact with an open cut or scratch.
