Whitefish Man Dies While Fishing

By Beacon Staff

A 62-year-old Whitefish man died over the weekend while fishing on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation near Heart Butte.

The Glacier County sheriff’s office is investigating the death of Gary A. Nelson, whose body was found at the bottom of Four Horns Reservoir at about 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon. He had cuts on his shoulder and neck, but the cause of death has not been determined.

A woman called 911 shortly after noon Saturday saying her father was at Four Horns and discovered a dog in a boat on the lake and another dog at a camper, but no owner in sight. One of the dogs helped rescuers find Nelson’s body.
