Kalispell Insurance Agent’s License Suspended

By Beacon Staff

KALISPELL – The state has suspended the license of a Kalispell insurance agent who owes more than $65,000 in state taxes.

Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Monica Lindeen issued an order Friday suspending the license of Michael Loween of Michael Loween & Associates. A temporary cease-and-desist order was also put in place, meaning Loween cannot conduct business.

A new state law that took effect in July 2009, made failing to pay state income taxes a reason to suspend or revoke professional licenses.

Lindeen’s office learned of Loween’s failure to pay taxes when it conducted a public records search in an effort to contact him after he failed to file a change of address.

A phone number listed for Loween’s business in Kalispell is no longer in service.
