Indiscreet Affair and a Marshmallow Fire

4:00 p.m. What began as a brush fire in Bigfork spread to the surrounding trees, eventually covering five to ten acres and coming within 400 yards of a structure. The fire was eventually extinguished, and no one was harmed in the blaze.

4:12 p.m. Someone called to report that one of their employees was bitten by a dog on Many Lakes Drive. The patient was taken to an urgent care clinic, and the dog was quarantined.

4:47 p.m. A Columbia Falls man was reportedly assaulted by his brother the previous evening. The disagreement apparently stemmed from the ownership of property.

4:52 p.m. Someone in Somers called authorities after noticing that several kids were alone in a minivan on Deer Creek Road. The reporting party then called back to say that they had found a parent canoodling with an illicit lover in another nearby vehicle.

5:08 p.m. Although a Rottweiler on Two Mile Drive is reportedly left alone in a home for extended periods of time, authorities found that it was not a case of neglect.

6:01 p.m. An Evergreen woman reports that a man called her on the phone and said disturbing things to her.

8:37 p.m. A concerned citizen called to report that a teen male was walking barefoot along the bottom of a bridge on Highway 35 while talking to himself. When deputies located the subject, he fled on foot.

8:48 p.m. An intoxicated man reportedly refused to leave a Whitefish bar and tried to assault his brother. The subject eventually left.

8:54 p.m. A female pedestrian in Columbia Falls was taken to the hospital with severe bodily trauma after she was struck by a moving train.

9:05 p.m. Two groups of neighbors on Bernard Road evidently fight with one another and drive up and down the road.

9:47 p.m. Someone in Martin City reports seeing flames in a wooded area on the side of a nearby mountain. When Martin City Fire Department arrived, the blaze was found to be a small recreational fire, intended for roasting marshmallows.

9:57 p.m. A reportedly suspicious van parked on Kienas Road turned out to be a business making a delivery in the area.

10:09 p.m. A grizzly bear was seen rummaging through a garbage can in Columbia Falls.

10:50 p.m. Authorities checked on a reported juvenile drinking party on KM Ranch Road and found no alcohol on site.

12:48 a.m. Someone on Shelter Valley Drive reports that several cars were driving very slowly up and down the road.
