Where Would You Like to Live?

By Beacon Staff

That’s the question, which The Harris Poll has asked almost every year since 1997, posed to 2,620 adults. Rounding out the top three on the list are states well known for sunshine: California, Hawaii and Florida. Montana, which has traditionally cracked the top 15 in the rankings, tied Virginia for 14th on the list this year. The state’s highest ranking came in 1999 when it placed seventh.

Here are this year’s results to the question: “If you could live in any state in the country, except the state you live in now, what state would you choose to live in?”

1) California
2) Hawaii
3) Florida
4) Colorado
6) Arizona
6) North Carolina
7) Oregon
8) Texas
9) New York
10) Washington
11) Tennessee
12) New Jersey
13) Nevada
14) Virginia
14) Montana
