PLACES: Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts

By Beacon Staff

Escape the blustery cold and head to Bigfork for a show at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts. Last year the center completed a lobby renovation and expansion project for the 50th anniversary of the Bigfork Summer Playhouse. This year, the center is hosting its first winter season.

“It’s always been our goal to try and bring some theater to Bigfork and the area during the winter time,” said Peggy Hinkle.

Coming up: On Nov. 26-28, the Northwest Ballet Company presents the “Nutcracker” ballet.

Join Brach Thomson and friends in concert on Dec. 4 for “A Touch of Christmas” and the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theater presents “A Christmas Carol” on Dec. 10-12, 17 and 18.

The center is also excited about this year’s Valentine’s Day special “All You Need is Love” as the group Imagine performs the music of the Beatles.

There are numerous events to look forward to from now through the first week of May. For a complete schedule, go to www.bigforktheater.org.

“We are really bringing it up a notch,” Hinkle said.

How to get there: From U.S. Highway 93, take State Highway 82 east on the north end of the lake. Turn south on State Highway 35. Turn left on Holt Drive and veer right onto Grand Drive. Turn right onto Electric Avenue.
