Drink a Beer for the Bob

By Beacon Staff

Hello, Flathead Valley; you’re looking spring-y with a dash of snow mixed in for fun (or torture).

If you’re a fan of the Bob Marshall Wilderness and a fan of beer, I come bearing good news: March 31 marks this year’s annual “Drink a Beer for the Bob” fundraiser at Great Northern Brewing in Whitefish. One dollar from every pint purchased that night from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. goes to support the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation’s volunteer efforts on trail work and noxious weeds projects.

BMWF is a nonprofit organization that assists in maintaining and restoring the trail system of the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex with national organizations, youth groups and individual volunteers.

Here’s a snippet from the foundation:

“’Drink Beer for The Bob’ is one of our favorite fundraisers every year. It’s great to partner with Great Northern Brewery,” says BMWF Executive Director Keagan Zoellner. “It doesn’t get any better than enjoying delicious local beer while connecting with volunteers, donors and the community.

This fundraiser is also an opportunity for volunteers get a sneak preview of the 2011 Field Season schedule. Join the Bob Marshall Wilderness staff and board members as they share tales from the trails and offer insight on how to volunteer or get involved in other ways.

So. Go grab a brew and help fight those noxious weeds!
