Turiano Drops Gubernatorial Bid

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – Republican Drew Turiano of Helena says he’s decided not to run for governor and instead plans to enter the race for secretary of state.

Turiano told Lee Newspapers of Montana he’s changing plans because running for secretary of state will be less hectic and will take less campaign money.

He was near the bottom in fundraising among the nine Republicans seeking the nomination for governor, raising little money other than what he loaned or donated to his campaign.

Turiano is one of three Republicans seeking the nomination for secretary of state. Democrat Linda McCullough is seeking re-election.

Turiano is a New York native and real estate investor who moved to Montana in 2006. He also has written a self-published science fiction book.
