Weekend Events Focus on Middle Fork River Cleanup

By Beacon Staff

Two events are being organized this weekend to clean up the Middle Fork of the Flathead River.

The Montana Raft Company is leading volunteers down a boating trip to clean up trash along the river. Dubbed the “Rafting for Refuse Day,” the event is Saturday, June 23 beginning at 9:30 a.m. The event has been going on for 16 years and promotes the national “Leave No Trace” program. Donations to this program are suggested, but not required. All the necessary equipment for rafting will be provided along with professional guides and van support. Volunteers should bring work gloves, a water bottle and change of clothes. Volunteer space is limited and reservations are required.
