Missing Former Congressional Candidate Found

By Beacon Staff

MISSOULA – A former Libertarian congressional candidate who was reported missing in late June has been found safe at home in Victor.

Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman says detectives spoke to 53-year-old David Philip Kaiser on Monday. However, he says Kaiser refused to give a statement without an attorney present, so officers still don’t know where he was.

Kaiser’s business partners and friends reported him missing on June 29. The sheriff’s office followed up on tips that he was spotted in Livingston and in Reno, Nev.

Hoffman says the department wants to find out where Kaiser went, especially since officers and community members spent more than two weeks looking for him.

Kaiser ran for the U.S. House in 2012 against Republican Steve Daines and Democrat Kim Gillan. He received 4 percent of the vote.
