An 11-month-old baby girl fell into a mop bucket and drowned Saturday evening in Creston, according to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Sheriff Chuck Curry, the child’s parents were mopping the kitchen floor and left the room for a few moments. When they returned, they found the baby had fallen into the water bucket. The parents and first responders made attempts to resuscitate the girl but she was later pronounced dead at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
The body was transported to the state crime lab in Missoula for an autopsy.
“We are looking into the incident, but there is nothing to suggest that this was anything but an accident,” Curry said.
