HELENA – Montana Gov. Steve Bullock is embarking on an eight-day trade mission to China.

Bullock, state officials and 10 local business owners were leaving Friday to hold meetings set with the goal of signing contracts for selling Montana products in China.

The trip was organized by the Governor’s Office, the Commerce Department and the U.S. Commercial Service. Bullock also plans to meet with Chinese government officials and give presentations about Montana to Chinese business, investment, education, and tourism leaders.

Participating businesses include United Grain Corp., Headframe Spirits, Big Sky Resort, One Montana and Montana Precision Products.

China is currently Montana’s third largest trading partner behind Canada and South Korea. Montana exports to China have increased almost tenfold in the last decade with $101 million of commodity goods sold to China in 2013.
