The search for Hedges has included helicopters with infrared and night vision cameras

LIVINGSTON — Officials in Park County have scaled back their search for a 38-year-old Bozeman man who was reported missing during an elk hunting trip in the Crazy Mountains east of Wilsall.

Two men who were with Aaron Hedges say they last had radio contact with him on Sept. 7 when he said he was headed toward Sunlight Lake. The friends rode out of the area on horseback on Sept. 10 and reported Hedges missing.

The search for Hedges has included helicopters with infrared and night vision cameras and spotlights along with dog teams, horse teams, ground searchers and a high elevation team.

Late last week, several items belonging to Hedges were found but searchers have found no sign of him.

Park County Sheriff Allan Lutes said Monday that search efforts will resume if any new information becomes available.
