BILLINGS – U.S. Sen. Jon Tester will hold a field hearing Friday in Sidney to examine law enforcement and infrastructure needs in the booming Bakken oil patch.
The hearing at the Richland County Event Center will examine the best ways that the federal government can support local communities dealing with the pressures caused by the boom along the Montana-North Dakota border.
Among those scheduled to appear are economic development and housing experts, local officials and representatives of the FBI and law enforcement.
Tester, a Democrat, is planning separately to continue his veterans listening sessions this week to hear about services available through the VA. Sessions are planned for Wednesday in Billings and Thursday in Miles City.
