Thanks for Generosity

This all-volunteer department with volunteers from Somers, Lakeside and lower valley is a credit to firefighters everywhere

By Tom Devine

I want to publicly thank the Somers Volunteer Fire Department for their great response to the fire in my garage in Tamarack Woods (Lakeside) a month ago. They arrived promptly, moved my truck and car out of the driveway while I was spraying my house with my hose until they got set up, got the fire under control without any spreading and protected my house from also catching fire. This all-volunteer department with volunteers from Somers, Lakeside and lower valley is a credit to firefighters everywhere and an asset to Flathead Valley.

I also want to thank the neighbor who started a donation fund to help me replace my garage and publicized the fund’s existence so friends and neighbors could contribute. I especially want to thank everyone who contributed to this fund. I received the funds Nov. 3, and the money raised will help pay for cement footings and flooring, which I am trying to get in before full-out winter hits. So far, I have been able to get all the remains and debris removed and am digging the foundation.

Finally, I give a big thanks to those volunteers who helped not only with donations to the fund, but with time and effort to help me clean up and to get started on construction of my new garage. The local vets of Lakeside and surrounding area and all others who volunteer are deeply appreciated – you know who you are.

Thanks again, everyone, for your kind generosity in my time of need.
