Whitefish School Board Seeks Applicants for Vacancy

The Whitefish School District Board of Trustees is accepting applications for the vacant seat following the death of Pat Jarvi.

Jarvi, a longtime board member and former school librarian, passed away June 3. She was 72.

Jarvi served 15 years on the school board and was chair from 2009 through May.

The board hopes to fill the vacancy in the coming weeks. Interviews will be held Aug. 3 and the top choice will be picked at the board’s meeting on Aug. 7.

Applicants must be registered voters of the Whitefish school district, be at least 18 years of age and must have resided in the district for at least 30 days. In addition to the two regularly scheduled board meetings each month, trustees serve on various committees and study groups.

The trustee selected to fill the vacancy will serve by appointment until the next school election, which will occur in May 2016.

Applications are available on the district’s website, www.wsd44.org, or can be picked up at the district office, 600 East Second St.

Applications must be received by July 30.
