Couple sentenced to 10 years in prison each and are jointly responsible for paying restitution

GREAT FALLS – Two Great Falls residents who pleaded guilty to setting a fire in their apartment in May 2015 in an effort to collect on a new renter’s insurance policy have been sentenced to 10 years in prison each and are jointly responsible for paying over $58,000 in restitution.

The Great Falls Tribune reports Adrianne Davenport pleaded guilty to arson and theft while her common-law husband, Brandon Fondren, pleaded guilty to accountability to arson and theft. District Judge John Kutzman sentenced Davenport and Fondren on Friday.

Investigators said the insurance policy was taken out 10 days before the fire, a power strip in the apartment had been tampered with and witnesses saw the couple moving belongings from their apartment to a storage unit. A search of the storage unit turned up text books about arson investigation.
