All-Women’s Bicycle Ride Joins Forces with Arts Fest, Hope 406

One-of-a-kind summer celebration to run July 1-3 in Whitefish, featuring Gran Fondo bike race

To celebrate the women of cycling, and to foster a culture of bike racing and riding among women, the Femme/VELO Gran Fondo bicycle race – French for “women” and “bicycle,” respectively – is joining forces with the 37th Annual Whitefish Arts Festival and HOPE 406 to create a one-of-a-kind summer celebration July 1-3, highlighting the vibrant community of Whitefish.

“It’s the peak of the tourist season in Glacier Country and we want the folks who are visiting from out-of-state to see what a great community we have, and we want to give folks who haven’t visited Whitefish and the Flathead Valley one more reason to add a summer vacation in Montana to their bucket list,” said Nicole Adamson, founder and executive director of Femme/Velo.

The group was brought together by chance after each organization discovered they had an event occurring during the same weekend in July. Rather than competing against each other for visitors, in the spirit of community they decided to work together.

“With a 37 year history that attracts roughly 120 artists and 5,000-7,000 attendees, the Whitefish Arts Festival is pleased to see the addition of two quality July 4 weekend events that will showcase the community of Whitefish and highlight Whitefish as ‘the place to be’ for the holiday for out-of-area tourists and locals,” says Clark Berg, co-director, Whitefish Arts Festival.
