Two Killed in Crash Near Libby

By Beacon Staff

LIBBY (AP) – Two people are dead after a pickup truck crashed early Wednesday south of Libby.

The Montana Highway Patrol says a Dodge pickup was westbound on U.S. Highway 2 at a high rate of speed around 3:30 a.m. and hit a patch of black ice.

The driver lost control and the vehicle slid off the left side of the road and rolled several times. All three occupants were ejected and a 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

The third occupant, a 28-year-old man, was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center where he’s listed in critical condition.

The victims’ names were being withheld until relatives were notified.

The Highway Patrol says alcohol contributed to the crash and the occupants were not wearing seat belts.
