Veterans from the Great Falls area say Veterans’ Affairs staff in Montana is overworked and more options are needed for patients living in rural areas.

About 20 veterans spoke with U.S. Sen. Jon Tester Wednesday at the University of Great Falls.

The Great Falls Tribune reports most said they are happy with the medical center near Helena and a clinic in Great Falls, but doctors have too many patients.

They told Tester more transportation options are needed for outreach and to get veterans to their appointments. They also say technology should be improved to provide remote video options for rural patients to supplement VA health care.

Tester says the work is not over after President Barack Obama signed a bill last week to improve the Department of Veterans Affairs.
