Three men were taken to the hospital on Tuesday after a plane crash in the Great Bear Wilderness.

According to Sheriff Chuck Curry, a Cessna 206 single-engine plane operated by Red Eagle Aviation crashed on the west end of the Schafer Meadows airstrip at about 11 a.m., Tuesday. The three men on board suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Spotted Bear District Ranger Deb Mucklow said the men planned to raft down the Middle Fork of the Flathead River.

Two Bear Air took the three people to the Kalispell City Airport where they were then taken by ambulance to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time. Curry said the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
