HELENA — A man who was convicted with two others of the double homicide of a Montana couple is appealing his conviction to the state Supreme Court.
Kyle Alexander Hamm’s attorney filed a notice of appeal with the court Monday, The Independent Record reported.
A Helena jury found Hamm guilty of two counts of deliberate homicide, tampering with evidence and possession of dangerous drugs.
He was sentenced to 80 years in the Montana State Prison with parole eligibility after 20 years.
Hamm was convicted in the 2018 killing of Charla Rae Taylor, 64, and David Muncie Taylor, 61, who were found dead in their home with multiple injuries indicating beating and attack with a sharp weapon.
Kaleb Taylor, the couple’s son, pleaded guilty to two counts of deliberate homicide and was sentenced to life in prison.
Journey Ryder Wienke was convicted of two counts of deliberate homicide and received a life sentence.
Hamm told authorities the three men drove to the victims’ home together but he stayed in the truck.
Hamm was charged under a state law requiring a deliberate homicide conviction if the defendant is found legally accountable for a robbery, assault with a weapon or other forcible felony causing death.
