St. Mary Visitor Center Reopens

Building was closed after sprinkler system caused water damage inside

By Justin Franz

The St. Mary Visitor Center on the east side of Glacier National Park has reopened. The visitor center has been closed since Thursday because of a furnace malfunction that activated the sprinkler system and caused significant water damage.

Visitor services, including information, backcountry permits and boat inspections, are again available inside the lobby of the St Mary Visitor Center.  The interpretive exhibits and the sales area managed by the Glacier National Park Conservancy are open, and phone service has been restored to the building.  The daily film viewings are not available at this time, as some areas of the building remain closed, including the auditorium.

Because the auditorium remains closed, a Native American Speak program scheduled for July 24 may be relocated to another building. For updated information, contact the visitor center at (406) 732-7750.
