Summer may be over, but there’s still some broncs to ride.

Some of the best bucking horses in the country are coming to Kalispell this weekend for the Cinch Bucking Horse Championships. The second annual world-class event is at the Majestic Valley Arena on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. A kickoff party and Calcutta auction are the night before at Scotty’s Bar. There will also be a barrel race at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Saturday’s main event will feature 22 of the best cowboys jumping in the saddle and riding 45 broncs, trying to win part of the $70,000 in total prize money. The event will also feature the popular wife-carrying contest.

To qualify for the championships, during the 2014 season these bronc riders bucked over 400 of the best broncs in 12 World Class Bucking Horse Association events.

On Sunday, Oct. 5, Kalispell will also host the inaugural Cinch World Class Genetics Bucking Horse Sale — the first sale of its kind where more than 50 horses will be sold. All horses —including stallions, broodmares, colts and bucking horses — entered in the sale will have proof of parentage through the Cinch World Class Genetics program.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for children and free for children 5 and under for the Saturday event.
