Montana State Quarterback Added to Payton Watch

In the last two games, Prukop has accounted for 997 total yards and 14 touchdowns

BOZEMAN — Montana State quarterback Dakota Prukop has been named to the watch list for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top offensive player in the FCS by The Sports Network.

The sophomore from Austin, Texas, has been the Big Sky Conference offensive player of the week for the past two weeks, and was the national player of the week two weeks ago.

In the last two games, Prukop has accounted for 997 total yards and 14 touchdowns.

Prukop passed for 361 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 148 yards and two more scores in MSU’s 77-37 win over UC Davis on Saturday. The previous week, he passed for 348 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 140 yards and three more scores in a 59-56 win at Sacramento State.

Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams and EWU wide receiver Cooper Kupp are on the watch list. Montana quarterback Jordan Johnson is no longer on the 25-player list.
