Four teenagers were arrested this week after they tried to rob an undercover agent at gunpoint in Evergreen, according to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry.

The meeting between the undercover agent and the four teens was the result of a Northwest Montana Drug Task Force investigation. Jacob Sauls, 18, from Eureka, Kellen McGarry, 19, of Whitefish, Riley Landwehr, 19, of Kalispell, and an unnamed 14-year-old, also from Kalispell, were all arrested and charged with armed robbery on Jan. 7.

Earlier this week, the undercover agent responded to an ad on Craigslist implying that the advertiser had methamphetamine for sale. The agent agreed to meet in an Evergreen parking lot on Jan. 7 at about 5:30 p.m. During the transaction, Sauls indicated that he had a gun and demanded money from the agent. The undercover agent handed the money over and the four teens tried to flee the scene in their vehicle but were stopped by other agents and arrested without incident. A handgun was recovered from Sauls. No methamphetamine was recovered.
