By Dillon Tabish

This valley, like many parts of Montana, has a nice tradition of bull riding.

Matt Triplett, a 23-year-old from Columbia Falls, is currently the top ranked rider in the PBR world standings. Last weekend in Anaheim, California, Triplett won his second PBR Built Ford Tough Series Event this year in front of nearly 30,000 fans. He went four-for-four in the event and extended his standings lead to 780 points.

There’s also Beau Hill, another talented rider from Columbia Falls, who competed at the National Finals Rodeo late last year.

This weekend, rodeo fans can get a taste of the action at the Majestic Valley Arena between Kalispell and Whitefish. The Rocky Mountain Extreme Bull Riding event is Feb. 13-14. Although neither Triplett nor Hill will be competing, the event will feature a talented crew of riders from the PBR touring pro division who will sit atop raging bulls for two nights of lively action.

Spectators are encouraged to wear pink on Friday for breast cancer awareness.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the event starts at 7:30 p.m. Kids 12 and under are free on Friday. Adults cost $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased before at ARMY/NAVY and Majestic Valley Arena.
