Golf Season Arrives Early for Some Area Courses

Eagle Bend Golf Course in Bigfork plans to open March 18

While the recent stretch of unseasonably warm weather has put a damper on ski season, golfers are rejoicing.

A number of courses have opened or plan to open in the coming days and weeks. The Wildneress Club in Eureka opened March 6 with full greens, tee boxes and practice facilities. It will remain walking-only until March 27.

Cabinet View Golf Course in Libby opened the front nine and driving range on March 13.

Polson Bay Golf Club has been open for a few weeks.

Eagle Bend Golf Course in Bigfork plans to open March 18. The Osprey and Bear nine will both be open, but the front nine on the 18-hole course will remain closed likely until April 1, according to clubhouse officials.

“The course is looking nice. All the grass is still dormant but it’s starting to green up in some key areas,” said course professional Michael Wynne.

Most courses aim at opening April 1, including Buffalo Hill, Village Greens and Northern Pines.
