Glacier Softball Team Thumps Great Falls in State Opener

Wolfpack advance to Friday's quarterfinal round against Billings West

Ali Williams struck out 13 batters and Kayla Russell notched three RBI to lead Glacier past Great Falls 11-2 in the opening round of the Class AA softball state tournament in Missoula on Thursday.

The Wolfpack (19-3) advanced to the quarterfinal round against Billings West (21-4), which edged Helena Capital 1-0 on Thursday.

Glacier and Billings West play at 10 a.m., Friday. The winner advances to the semifinal round later today.

Williams added two RBI. Christine Connolly went 3 for 3 with an RBI. Katie Wiley had an RBI.

Missoula Big Sky defeated Butte 9-2 in the first round and Great Falls CMR beat Helena 6-0.
