Montana Raft Company and Glacier Guides will be hosting their annual volunteer river cleanup event this weekend.

Since 1997, Montana Raft Company has hosted the Rafting for Refuse event to help clean access points along the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. This year’s event is June 20.

“We are a company that relies on our environment, and we are committed to helping keep the river corridor clean for everyone,” says Marketing Director Corrie Holloway. “We are happy to host this event every year, in hope that visitors can have a better experience on the river.”

Volunteers meet at the company’s office to learn “Leave No Trace” principles, then get shuttled to various river put-ins, and raft down those sections of river, picking up any trash along the way. A complimentary barbeque follows for participants.

The event is open to the public, however space is limited. Anyone interested can call Glacier Guides and Montana Raft at 387-5555 and reserve a spot.

Glacier Guides and Montana Raft is a company that offers hiking, rafting, fishing and lodging in and around Glacier National Park. Founded in 1983, they are advocates of the outdoors, and take pride in being an environmentally responsible business. They host other rafting for charity events throughout the summer.
