Two People Killed in Columbia Falls House Fire

The cause of the fire is still under investigation

Firefighters have recovered the bodies of two people killed in a house fire near Columbia Falls Monday morning.

The remains of a 30-year-old woman and a 3-year-old boy were recovered from the scene of a massive house fire on Trumble Creek Road late Monday, according to Columbia Falls Fire Chief Rick Hagen. Authorities have not identified the two victims.

Two other people escaped the fire unharmed.

The fire was reported near the intersection of Montana Highway 40 and Trumble Creek Road at about 9:25 a.m. By the time firefighters arrived, the two-story home was engulfed in flames. Firefighters from Columbia Falls, Whitefish, Bad Rock, West Valley and Evergreen responded to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
