A 67-year-old Libby man was killed Aug. 8 in a single-vehicle crash on the Yaak River Road northwest of Troy.

Lincoln County Sheriff Roby Bowe identified the victim as Jon Douglas Reynolds. Bowe said Reynolds was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Reynolds was pronounced dead at the scene. The adult male driver was belted and survived the crash. He was flown to Kalispell for treatment.

Authorities received a report of the crash around 5:30 p.m. Emergency responders arrived to mile marker 17 to find a one-vehicle crash. The 2004 Chevrolet pickup drove off the right side of the highway while traveling southbound and negotiating a left curve. It is unknown why the vehicle drove off the road. An initial investigation suggests the driver over-corrected to his left and lost control of the truck, which rolled at least one-and-a-half times, according to authorities.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
