Community Groups Partner to Place Recycling Bins at Flathead County Fairgrounds

50 new recycling bins will be at the Northwest Montana Fair

By Beacon Staff

The Northwest Montana Fair will be a bit greener this year. Thanks to a recent recycling bin grant award, 50 new recycling bins for cans and bottles will be making their debut at the 2015 Northwest Montana Fair, Aug. 19-23.

Citizens for a Better Flathead, through the WasteNot Project, has collaborated with the Flathead County Fairgrounds, Valley Recycling, and the Flathead County Solid Waste District to make this project possible. The large blue bins will be available year-round for any event hosted at the County Fairgrounds that wants to use them.

During the fair, the public can support the recycling program by only putting #1 or #2 plastic bottles and aluminum cans into the recycling bins. Containers should be emptied of any food or liquids before recycling.

This new recycling opportunity is relying on community volunteers for its pilot year at the fair.

Additional volunteers are still needed. Call 756-8993 to volunteer and receive a pass to enjoy the fair while helping to maintain and promote the use of these bins.
