Stampeders Rout Lions in CFL’s West Semifinal

Flathead grad Mike Reilly and Edmonton will play for a spot in the Grey Cup next week

CALGARY, Alberta — Former Eastern Washington star Bo Levi Mitchell threw two touchdown passes to Eric Rogers and the defending Grey Cup champion Calgary Stampeders beat the B.C. Lions 35-9 on Sunday in the Canadian Football League’s West Division semifinal.

Mitchell was 15 of 24 pass for 199 yards. Keon Raymond returned an interception for a touchdown. Travis Lulay, a former quarterback at Montana State University, was 10 of 19 for 119 yards for the Lions.

The Stampeders will play at Edmonton next week for a spot in the Grey Cup. The West Final is Sunday, Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m. at Commonwealth Stadium.

Mike Reilly, a 2003 Flathead High School graduate, is the quarterback of the Edmonton Eskimos and recently was named the team’s most outstanding player. Reilly, 30, led the Eskimos to eight consecutive victories after returning to the starting lineup on Sept. 12 against the Calgary Stampeders. Reilly went down in the season opener with a knee injury.

Since returning, Reilly has passed for 2,449 yards and 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

The Eskimos are 14-4 and clinched first place in the West Division for the first time since 2003.

Hamilton and Ottawa are playing in the other CFL playoff game.

The Grey Cup Championship is Nov. 29.
