Missoula Officials Drop Appeal of Water System Value

Missoula Mayor John Engen announced Friday that the city has withdrawn its appeal

MISSOULA — The city of Missoula has dropped its challenge of the $88.6 million value placed on the drinking water system it is purchasing.

The city had filed an appeal of the value placed on the Mountain Water Co. system by a panel of commissioners in November. Mountain Water is owned by The Carlyle Group.

Missoula Mayor John Engen announced Friday that the city has withdrawn its appeal.

Engen says the city appealed because it was concerned that businesses and individuals who invested in the system would be left in the cold when the transaction occurs. However, Engen says the issue has been resolved enough so that the city can drop its appeal.
