Vote for Don “K” Kaltschmidt

He has the willingness and ability to represent and serve the people

By Bruce Tate

Don Kaltschmidt, commonly known in the Flathead Valley as “Don K,” is an interesting man. He has a long history here in the area, which started as a young boy in Kalispell, where he attended school. After serving his country for three years in the Marine Corps in the mid-1970s, he began what was to become a thirty-seven year commitment to the automobile industry. Hard work and a vision became the driving force in his development of sound business practices. These were to become the foundation of his ownership of a successful full-service Chevy dealership in Whitefish by 1990.

In recent years, he expanded his business to include Chrysler, Dodge and Ram trucks, and a little later, the full line of Subaru vehicles. It is a highly competitive industry where the dynamics are constantly changing, and economic ups and downs can present difficulties. Don Kaltschmidt has succeeded with an uncommon achievement, in these past few years, particularly for a single owner/dealer to expand to become a multi-line dealership. Manufacturers have stringent standards that must be met by their chosen dealerships in the marketplace. Don K has met those expectations in the key areas of planning, marketing, sales, service, personnel development, financial obligations and overall management of the three unique businesses. He works hard at his businesses, which thrive with his leadership.

Don is active in his church, and also community involved in organizations such as Rotary, the Marine Corps League, American Legion, Flathead Business and Industry, the NRA, and the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce.

One would ask, “So what does this have to do with running for a state senator office in District 3?”

Don Kaltschmidt is a high-energy person. And I would suggest that the character he has demonstrated to employees, customers and the public are worthy of your consideration when you chose a state senator. He cares about the people of Montana, and this area in particular, and would like to ”give back to the people” of Northwest Montana.

In short, he has the willingness and ability to represent and serve the people of Senate District 3 well. I hope you will agree, and favor Don K with your vote in the June primary election.
