Ali Williams is putting together a senior season for the history books.

The senior pitcher at Glacier High School tossed the first perfect game in program history late last week. The hard-throwing right-hander fanned 16 batters from Missoula Hellgate (1-8 overall, 1-3 in Western AA) in an 8-0 win on April 22. Twelve batters struck out swinging and only five batters put the ball in play as Glacier’s defense stopped three popouts and two grounders to sit all 21 batters in seven innings.

The perfect game came 11 days after Williams logged a no-hitter against Great Falls (6-2 overall, 3-1 in Eastern AA) and 10 days after she logged a career-high 17 strikeouts against Missoula Big Sky (7-1 overall, 2-1 in Western AA) in a big 7-1 win for Glacier (6-4, 5-1).

For the season, Williams has 125 strikeouts in only 64 innings pitched through April 25. Her strikeout total is the highest in Montana and 71 more than the runner-up pitcher. She has allowed only six earned runs in 10 games.

Williams, who has signed to play at Carroll College next year, had four no-hitters entering her senior campaign.
