Sheriff Identifies Man Killed in Creston Head-on

83-year-old Bigfork man was killed in a head-on collision on Highway 35 Monday

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in Monday’s head-on collision near Creston.

Thomas Arnett, 83, of Bigfork was driving a red Jeep Wrangler east when it drifted into the opposing lane and collided with a Dodge pickup truck traveling west. Arnett was pronounced dead at the scene. Arnett was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The driver of the pickup truck had minor injuries.

The Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.

Traffic was detoured around the wreck Monday afternoon and drivers in the area experienced delays of 15 to 30 minutes.

Arnett’s death is the 99th on Montana’s roadways in 2016, compared to 104 fatalities at this time last year.
