BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — Yellowstone National Park’s deputy superintendent is set to retire after four decades with the National Park Service.

Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports that Steven Iobst, who was appointed to the position in August 2011, will retire at the end of the month.

In his role as deputy superintendent, Iobst has directed several of the park’s operations, including search and rescue, resource education, youth programs and law enforcement.

Iobst has also coordinated with federal and state agencies on park road improvements, including the Beartooth Highway, which connects Red Lodge and Cooke City, Montana, near the park’s northern entrance.

In June, Iobst received the Department of the Interior Meritorious Service Award.
