The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has identified the 25-year-old man found dead on the train tracks near Wolf Creek.

Undersheriff Brandon Huff said Darren Joseph of Connecticut was killed in the early morning hours of Oct. 6 in a remote part of the county.

The sheriff’s office received a report at 4:42 a.m. from BNSF Railway that a deceased person was found on the tracks near Wolf Creek, east of Libby. A second train stopped at the location and the crew confirmed that there was a deceased man on the right-of-way.

From the evidence found at the scene, officials believe Joseph was a stowaway on a container train when he fell off the train onto the tracks.

BNSF Special Agents and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating Joseph’s death, but Huff said at this time, the death appears to be accidental.
