A Columbia Falls woman has been accused of pointing a gun at sheriff’s deputies inside her home and an officer is on paid leave after he reportedly fired his weapon during the call.

Lisa Marie Decker, 34, was arrested on June 27 and charged with felony assault on a peace officer and assault with a weapon.

According to Sheriff Chuck Curry, law enforcement responded to a home on Jellison Road in Columbia Falls shortly after 10 p.m. after receiving reports of a woman making suicidal threats.

The woman reportedly invited the sheriff’s deputies into her home and while there she allegedly pointed a handgun at them. One of the deputies shot at the woman while retreating for cover. The round missed the woman, who immediately dropped her weapon and surrendered. No one was injured during the incident.

Sheriff Curry said the deputy who fired his weapon is on paid leave pending an internal investigation into the shooting. Curry said the administrative review is standard whenever an officer discharges their weapon in the line of duty.
