The Highline Trail, considered by many to be the quintessential path in Glacier National Park, is open for summer.

The National Park Service opened the popular trail last week.

The Highline Trail traces 7.6 miles from Logan Pass along the Garden Wall and Continental Divide to the Granite Park Chalet, a remote backcountry destination. From the chalet, the trail descends another five miles to The Loop on Going-to-the-Sun Road.

The trail is only open during summertime and often features snow and ice through early summer.
