Lincoln County Attorney Bernard Cassidy is retiring on Aug. 31 after 21 years as that county’s top prosecutor. Cassidy first started working as a deputy county attorney in Libby in the 1980s.

Cassidy told the Beacon that it was “time for the next generation” to take over the county attorney’s office. The Lincoln County Commission will appoint someone to fill Cassidy’s position until the end of his current term in 2018.
